Context

The house is located on the outskirts of southern Sao Paulo (no. 23 Fonte Nova Road). It is a neighborhood of extreme poverty; unfortunately, many cases of abuse and neglect of the weakest people, especially the disabled, which should really be the more cared for and protected, take place here.

Project

The building of the new wing started the year 2012. We’re talking about a big structure, of great importance to us and to the locals as well, given that it would enable us to house a larger number of people both, physically and mentally disabled. Another reason why this project is so important is the fact that, currently, there are no facilities in the area that offer this kind of attention for free; in fact, we already have many needed people on a waiting list!

The building is planned in four stages:

Stage 1: building of the new laundry and the storeroom (these were built underground so as to really take advantage of the land)

Stage 2: building of the first floor: 2 intensive care rooms, 4 bathrooms, 1 rehabilitation room, 1 communal dining room, a pantry and a game room.

Stages 3 and 4 have not been started yet due to lack of resources.
